How To Make a Pirate Hat
If you have young children and want to make a Pirate Hat, here are a few tips which may help you out. See ideas for Pirate Costumes here.
Here is a video tutorial how to make a pirate hat from paper…How to make a simple pirate’s hat using newspaper and assembling the hat taught by Ms Ginny Larson over at eHow.
This is a Pirate Hat Template – here is what you will need for this
Black card, plain card of any desired color (don’t forget, it must be able to go through your printer), standard white A4 paper, scrap or small pieces of red paper or card which will be cut into small rectangles or squares for the design. Black coloring pen, PVA or a glue stick, scissors and a stapler.
1.Print this skull and cross-bones flag on to white paper.
2. Print the pirate hat template onto plain light colored cardboard, and cut out the hat and the band shapes. These will be templates for you to draw later in step 3.
3. Place the templates onto the black card and draw around them carefully. A white or lead pencil should show up well enough.
4. Now you can cut along the pencil lines, this will make the front of your pirates hat. The 2 bands will be used to hold it onto your head.
5. Now Glue the pieces of red card to the front of your hat and along the top edge of the hat.
Once all is dry, the skull and cross-bones flag can be colored in by the kids. Great if they are at a themed or birthday party or are preparing for Halloween fun dress up.
